The Institute for Jewish History in Austria is a research institute which comprehensively deals with the study of the history and culture of Jews in Austria from the Middle Ages to the present day. For our self-understanding, dealing with the history of the place where our institute is located is always of great importance. Who were the people who made this magnificent synagogue possible, how intense and differentiated was Jewish life in the city and its surroundings?
