On 17 August 1913, the St. Pöltner Synagogue was opened. 25 years later, in November 1938, the splendid Jugendstil building was largely destroyed by the National Socialists. Since its renovation in 1984 it has served as a memorial and event space.

The exhibition not only illustrates the history but also the importance of this house for the Jewish community destroyed in 1940. Not a single ritual object survived the Nazi and post-war period. All the more precious are the few surviving objects, photos and documents that testify to the once flourishing life of the Jewish community of St. Pölten.
